I have been
crocheting about 30 years. And I
have been teaching for many years. The past five
have been through a local community college and
quality yarn shop. I work with students of all
levels at the same time. Each student works at
their own pace.
Classes run for four week sessions and are
limited to ten students at a time. Each student
gets all the personal attention that they need.
Therefore, students of all levels are welcome. We
will even try to accommodate someone that just
wants to come for one day to solve a problem that
they have been having. Just call and see when we
could fit you in.A paid student is allowed to
make-up a missed class in the next session at no
charge. Each one of the stores give a
discount to current students. Call the one in
your area for details.Classes are limited, so
call ahead to reserve your spot.
Most beginning students continue for 12-16 weeks.
At that time they are comfortable attempting most
any pattern and know that they can finish it. A
lot of emphasis is put on understanding how
patterns are written and how to resolve questions
when they arise. These classes are fun. Many
students continue to attend just for the social
aspect involved.
Class Projects: Each new student learns the basic
stitches by making a small sample swatch. They
then use those stitches to make a dishcloth from
a worsted weight cotton. After that all students
are allowed to choose their own projects. I
encourage students to try many different types of
projects, starting with yarn then moving on to
thread. The whole idea here is that you have to
really want to make the item enough to stick with
it and enjoy the finished product. When you sign
up for the class, be sure to ask about the
store's student discount on class materials.
Needle tatting classes are now available in
Gainesville and Ocala. This
is a
series of three
classes.
